Overall, Palin’s candidates won in 32 of 59 races, with 5 races still up in the air. Palin Tea Party endorsees lost big, though, in several Senate races that would likely have gone Republican if the party had fielded more mainstream candidates: Christine O’Donnell in Delaware; John Raese in West Virginia; Sharron Angle in Nevada; and, possibly (the race is still undecided) Joe Miller in Alaska. Those races cost the Republicans control of the Senate, which probably won’t be lost on the party’s leadership.
